Managed WordPress Hosting vs. an All-in-One Care Plan: WP Engine, Kinsta, SiteGround and Inspirable (2026)

Managed hosts like WP Engine and Kinsta run your servers. An all-in-one care plan runs the servers and the people who maintain your site. What each covers, what two vendors cost together, and when each is the right call.

Managed WordPress hosting and WordPress maintenance are usually sold by two different companies. A managed host such as WP Engine, Kinsta or SiteGround runs the servers your site lives on, typically covering speed, backups and platform-level security. A maintenance provider handles the work on top: updates, plugin conflicts, security cleanup, content edits and support. If you buy both separately you pay two bills and, when something breaks, you can end up between two vendors who each say the problem is on the other side. An all-in-one care plan combines the host and the maintenance team in one plan, with one team responsible for the whole stack. Inspirable is one of those, so we have a stake here; the comparison below sticks to what each company sells and its public entry price, without ranking features, and it names the cases where a standalone host is the better choice.

The cost of two vendors is easy to underestimate.

Managed WordPress hosts compared with an all-in-one care plan

ProviderWhat they sellEntry price per month
KinstaManaged WordPress hosting$35 (smallest single-site plan; $30 billed annually)
WP EngineManaged WordPress hostingFrom about €25.60 (Essential; shown in euros)
SiteGroundWordPress hosting$2.99 introductory, $17.99 at renewal (StartUp)
WP BuffsMaintenance only, on a host you buy separately$89 (Maintain)
InspirableManaged hosting and maintenance in one plan, with USA-based phone support$49.99 (Starter); $89.99, $159.99 and $349.99 above it

Entry prices are read from each provider's public pricing page in October 2026 and change over time. This table compares price and what each company sells, not feature lists; ask any provider exactly what its support and plan cover before you buy.

What two vendors cost together

The cost of two vendors is easy to underestimate. Using the entry prices in the table, Kinsta's smallest single-site plan at $35 a month plus WP Buffs' Maintain plan at $89 comes to $124 a month before you have talked to anyone about development work. SiteGround's StartUp plan renews at $17.99 a month, and adding a $69 monthly plan from a maintenance provider brings it to about $87. Inspirable's Starter plan, with hosting and maintenance together, is $49.99, and Essential, which adds unlimited small content edits, is $89.99. These are not like-for-like in every respect, since hosts differ in traffic and storage limits, so treat the numbers as an illustration of how two bills add up, not a verdict on performance. The structural point stands: with a separate host, maintenance is a second purchase.

When a managed host on its own is the right call

A managed host on its own is the right call in a few situations. If your site gets very high traffic, runs a large multi-site network, or needs dedicated, isolated infrastructure with a specific performance guarantee, a premium host like WP Engine's higher tiers or Kinsta's larger plans is built for that, and you may already have in-house developers or an agency covering maintenance. If an enterprise contract or compliance rule dictates where the site must be hosted, you will keep that host and add a maintenance-only provider. Very large sites should also confirm capacity with any all-in-one provider, including us, before moving.

Inspirable care plans start at $49.99/mo — no setup fee, no long-term contract, USA-based engineers.

What to ask before you move

Before you move or buy, ask five questions. What exactly does hosting support cover, and does it include plugin or theme problems, or only the server? Who fixes a broken update, and how quickly? Is there a phone number, or only chat and tickets? What does maintenance cost on top of hosting, and is there a minimum commitment? And how do you leave, including how you export the site and its backups? Our guide to who can manage a WordPress website covers every option, and the hosting-included guide goes deeper on what bundled hosting should contain.

How Inspirable combines hosting and maintenance

Inspirable combines the two. Every care plan includes fully managed WordPress hosting on SOC 2 Type II infrastructure through our data center partner, with encrypted backups every 5 hours and one-click restore, a firewall and DDoS protection, a CDN and SSL, plus the maintenance team on top: updates, security monitoring, malware cleanup and phone support from USA-based engineers at 844-455-2800. Plans are $49.99, $89.99, $159.99 and $349.99 per month, month-to-month with no setup fee, and a staging environment starts at the Professional plan. We are the developers and the host, so one team owns a problem whether it is the server or the code. If you would rather keep your current host, we can maintain the site there instead.
